Description
The largest ancient Maya archaeological site in Belize covers an area of 200 square kilometers, it once housed double the population of present-day Belize City and was one of the most important regional political centers of its time. Impressively, it has 85% more structures per square kilometer than mighty Tikal. Its influence and power were so huge that it defeated Tikal in AD 562.
Caracol’s splendor and wonderment are so worth the full day. The scenic beautiful drive takes you through some of the most impressive of Belize’s topography and through several forest habitats. On your return from Caracol, we will stop at Rio On Pools which is a series of cascades running through table-like granite rocks; swimming here will add to your day and revitalize your mood after a day of hiking and climbing Mayan temples.
When will you visit Belize again? If ancient Maya civilization is something that has grabbed your attention, we encourage you to make up your mind, see and feel Caracol – you won’t regret it – and plunge into the crystalline pools before heading back to your hotel.
