Description
This underground full-day adventure starts with a 30-minute interpretive jungle hike and then combines cave tubing with cave exploration through ancient ceremonial chambers with spectacular crystal formations. The ancient Maya considered caves to be portals to Xibalba, “the underworld, a place of fright”, inside caves they would perform intense and elaborate ceremonies to contact their ancestors and worship their gods with chants, prayers, and offerings. Venture with us into these ancient underground sacred places where shamans and priests performed their rituals over 13 centuries ago, walk amongst fire pits, thousands of ceramic pieces that litter the floor, and witness the remnants of a well-structured society that once ruled these lands.
